Instead of accumulating knowledge, the educational system placed more of an emphasis on the development of practical wisdom. Moral principles were incorporated into the curriculum. The students’ success in both the worldly and spiritual aspects of life was a result of the teacher’s distinctive teaching style.
The first Gurukul was established in Rajkot in May 1948 by the visionary H. H. Shastriji Maharaj Shree Dharmjivandasji Swami, who was inspired by this traditional educational system.
